2016 asked one question (none, just one or two, several, or a good many) instead of a yes/no question with a follow-up, so 'none' fell from 64% (2012) to 38% partly because of the format. Codes that include 'no Pre/Post IW' were dropped for respondents without that interview. Dropped only in years where the codebook names a design split (alternate form, half sample, abbreviated or web instrument): 9 in 1972, 1984, 1992. Kept and flagged: 8 (dk), 9 (other_missing). Codebook notes: GENERAL NOTE: This was a post-election variable all years except 1988 and 1992. 1984 NOTE: Code 0 includes 2 cases where R replied ‘yes’ that R had listened to speeches/discussions on the radio but, when asked how many, replied ‘none.’
