Federal spending on science and technology · Asked in 8 waves, 1984–2016 · 22,329 responses · weighted estimates computed from individual responses
1990 answers are loaded as anes:VCF9048_1990: 1990 asked about 'the space program'; other years ask about 'science and technology' (1984, 1992 on) or 'space and scientific research' (1986, 1988), per the codebook. The 1990 answers (42% decrease) are not a reversal of 1992's (13% decrease), just a different program. Codes that include 'no Pre/Post IW' were dropped for respondents without that interview. Dropped only in years where the codebook names a design split (alternate form, half sample, abbreviated or web instrument): 9 in 1984. Kept and flagged: 8 (dk), 9 (no_answer). Codebook notes: GENERAL NOTE: See federal spending question text and notes preceding VCF0886.
