'Every day' is about 55% in 1986-1994 and 26% to 36% in 1984 and from 1996 on. The codebook records wording changes ('the news' in 1984 and 1988-1994, 'a national news program' in 1986, 'the national news' in 1996-2000, 'the national network news' in 2002-2004) and a screening question in 1984 only, and warns that distributions vary considerably, so the 1994-1996 drop is at least partly the instrument. Dropped only in years where the codebook names a design split (alternate form, half sample, abbreviated or web instrument): 9 in 1992. Kept and flagged: 8 (dk), 9 (other_missing).
